Back teeth in the upper jaw can sometimes be challenging to replace due to the size and location of the sinus. A procedure knows as sinus elevation may be performed which allows us to grown bone in the sinus to facilitate implant placement.
Extraction sites where fractures had occurred or old extraction sites that have bone shrinkage can be built up to receive an implant by the process known as ridge augmentation. This usually involves using a bone replacement graft and a dissolvable barrier to grow new bone.
